Welcome Reception at MoPOP

Let the reunion begin! Join us beneath the Space Needle at the incredible Frank Gehry designed MoPOP (the Museum of Pop Culture) to kick off the start of the conference on Wednesday evening with indoor and outdoor options.

MoPOP is home to the world's most immersive pop culture experiences, showcasing iconic moments in TV, rock n roll music, science fiction, and much more.

You’ll be able to tour the galleries and/or hang outside on the tented patio while enjoying a drink and catching up with friends and meeting new colleagues with stunning views of the Space Needle.

The Welcome Reception is for ComNet22 attendees only (sorry we’re not able to accommodate your guest). There will be both indoor and outdoor space. As with all of ComNet22 activities, we ask you to please wear a mask unless you are actively eating or drinking.

Getting to MoPOP

The Museum of Pop Culture is located at 325 5th Avenue N at Seattle Center. MoPOP is easily accessible by car, numerous bus routes, and the historic Seattle Center Monorail. We encourage you to make some friends and carpool or take a stroll - a 1 mile walk - with fellow attendees.

We’ve shared a couple of ways to get there but the team has done a little recon and we have some updates/tips:

Consider using the shuttle, the first bus will depart at 5:15pm on Wednesday, picking up at the hotel outside the Andrade restaurant.
The walk is closer to 30 minutes, not 20 minutes (Seattle does have some hills).
If you are planning on walking (the weather has been great), we encourage the straightest route:
- Exit the hotel and turn right onto Olive Street (towards the water),
- Walk two blocks and turn right on to 5th Avenue (there will be a Bartell Drugs on the opposite corner).
- Keep walking until you see the Space Needle and MoPop straight ahead. There will be signs to the entrances when you get there (or look for the tent)!

*Buses will cue up on 8th Avenue between Stewart Street and Howell Street. Attendees can wait for the buses in the corner of the Lobby near the Andare restaurant. Buses will begin boarding at 5:15 pm, running a continuous loop until 6:30 pm. Buses will then begin return trips back to the hotel from MoPOP beginning at 7:30 pm.
